       Infrared Scanning

Infrared scanning is crucial in preventing and controlling visually undetectable maintenance problems in your electrical
distribution equipment.  Infrared scanning allows us to detect problems early on before they cause expensive damages or
unexpected outages that are undetectable by the human eye.  Having infrared scanning done can prevent accidents causing
injury or death.

Infrared is a powerful, proven tool that is widely used to evaluate the reliability of and problems in electrical systems. Infrared
scanning allows us to spot abnormally high resistance connection points that often precede failures in electrical systems; it is also possible
and useful to find overloads/imbalances.  Did you know that 95% of the problems found will be related to high resistance points of
contact?  Thermography, with its ability to locate small temperature differences, provides advance warning of impending failure by
indentifying the location of a suspect component.

Our primary goal is saving you money.  With proper maintenance on your electrical system, we can locate components with abnormally
high-resistance prior to their failure.  Not only can we save you money on testing your electrical equipment, but also with your heating bills.
With our camera we can see if you have heat loss going out of your building, how well is your roof insulated? Windows? Doors?

Collectively, we have 17 years experience in infrared thermography.  One thing we can tell you is that it is essential to keep active and
informed about your electrical equipment.  Your equipment failure, and interruptions, must be avoided if at all possible.  To save you money
it is essential for you to keep up on your equipment inspection and predictive maintenance.  What are the benefits of doing this?  How about
  • Uninterrupted Power
  • Averting Unscheduled Shutdowns
  • Improving Equipment Reliability
  • Maximizing Equipment Life
  • Creating a Safer Work Environment
  • Saving Thousands of Dollars
Michigan Switchgear uses a MikroScan 7515 Thermal Camera to measure the infrared radiation emitted by the targeted
surface and converts this radiation into a two dimensional image related to the temperature distribution at the targets surface.
This allows us to detect faulty connections & overloaded electrical components.
